Privacy Statement at British American Tobacco Australia

This statement explains how BAT Australia and its related entities within Australia treat personal information that we hold and which is regulated by the Privacy Act. This statement details the types of information we collect, how we may use that information and who we allow to access it.

The Privacy Act does not apply to all personal information that we hold. For example, the Privacy Act does not apply to records that we hold about our employees. This statement does not apply to that type of personal information.

In addition to this privacy statement we will on occasions provide specific statements about how we use particular information that we collect.

What information do we collect about you?

The types of information we collect about you will depend on the type of relationship we have with you. For example, if we have contact with you in the course of our business or respond to your enquiry, we may collect your name, address and other contact information. If we supply you with our products or services we may hold information about your financial status and your transactions with us

We only collect information that is necessary for our business purposes. We will usually collect your personal information directly from you, unless it is not reasonable or practical to do so, or you have consented to us obtaining the information from someone else.

You need not provide us with personal information if we request it from you, but it may affect our ability to provide you with products, services or further information you have requested.

Use and disclosure of your personal information

We may use your personal information to:

• efficiently administer and manage the supply of our products and services
• provide information to you about other products or services that may be of benefit to you
• respond to any enquiries or complaints, and
• facilitate our internal business operations.

We may disclose your personal information:

• on a confidential basis to our agents, contractors or third party service providers that provide financial, legal, administrative or other services required in connection with the operation of our business, for example our vending contractors, distributors, mailing houses, software developers, IT maintenance providers and professional advisors.
• where acting in good faith, we believe that the law requires or permits us to do so (eg. to law enforcement agencies or government auditors), or
• if you consent

Information security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

Your information is stored securely whether in an electronic or physical form. For example, only staff needing access to the information are allowed access. Your personal information is stored in secured premises or in electronic databases requiring logins and passwords.

Access and correction

You can request access at any time to personal information we hold about you. We will process your request within a reasonable time. There is no fee for requesting access to your information, however we may charge you the reasonable cost of processing your request. You may ask us at any time to correct personal information held by us about you, which you
believe is incorrect or out of date.

We try to ensure that all information we hold about you, which we collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete and up to date. You must promptly notify us if there are any changes to your personal information.
